Why?

Why must it come to this?
Why the yelling, the screaming, the hitting, the kicking.
Why does violence seem to be easy way out?
Why must it always come down to the punch?
Whatever happened to the word of voice;
the words that were used to extinguish the flames?
Why are the only words used, the ones that fuel the fire?
Isn't it better to extinguish a flame rather than to ingnight it?
Why is the world ablaze instead of a pile of ashes?
