I arrived at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront around 11:15 on the morning of September 19th. Curious if the weather at the Beach was as nice as everywhere else, I parked at a metered spot on 18th street and made my way down to he boardwalk. Isabel's left evidence of her visit all around, but by the atmosphere on the boardwalk you could never tell anything had even happened.
The waves were crashing while the water slid across the sand under my feet. Surfers rode the surf along the silhouette of the fishing pier, standing in triumph as it had failed to give in to Isabel's rage. A perfect day at the beach to follow behind another one of Mother Nature's perfectly destructive children.
